THAI WEDDING TRIP
---------------------------------------------------
We would like to take this opportunity on behalf of our son James and his new wife to thank all those who sent gifts and cards of support.  It was a very memorable day for all those relations and friends who made the long trip, 43 in all! We are planning to have a showing of the Buddhist ceremony, Christian ceremony and reception at the village hall on Saturday June the 5th at 7 p.m. We would like any of the villagers to join us in a rerun of this day - all welcome - please bring a bottle.
Pam and Wally Webb.

NSPCC CHARITY WALK
---------------------------------------------------
Despite a wet and windy morning on Sunday 18th April, eight walkers ( 6 from the village) braved the elements and with sponsorship and generous donations, we managed to raise £447.80 making it a very worthwhile annual event. We continue to raise much needed money and awareness of the Society in our community and to contribute to the work of the Suffolk Child Protection Team.
Cathryn Simpson.

A NEW EDITOR!
---------------------------------------------------
The Village News Board of Management is pleased to give a warm welcome to our new editor Tony Green. Please take note of his contact details on the back page, The Village News email address will not change.

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME
---------------------------------------------------
Out of interest last year I kept a note of the amounts raised from the various charity events held in the village, e.g. coffee mornings, lunches, fetes, auctions, etc. The grand total was over £23,000 showing what a generous village we are!
Mary King.

THE WALBERSWICK SCROLL
---------------------------------------------------
The next showing of the Scroll will be in the Village Hall on Saturday 10th July, from 10.00 a.m. until noon. Many readers will be familiar with this extraordinary painting of the village produced in 1931 and 1932 by John Doman Turner. The video has found its way into many homes, but there's nothing like the real thing! I will be running it back and forth two or three times, so anyone who comes along should get a reasonable view of it.
Richard Scott.

SAVE THE CHILDREN
---------------------------------------------------
Sincere thanks to all of you who supported our recent events; we are delighted with the sums raised:
Wine and Smiles - £567. Thanks to Riq for his superb readings which we will have on video at a small cost for anyone who missed it! Collection Boxes - £124.31,
Bridge Drive - £446.00. A successful afternoon when 56 players enjoyed their Bridge followed by excellent tea. Mary King ran the raffle which raised £100. Grateful thanks to everyone who donated prizes, food or loaned us tables. A great result for Save the Children.
Val Anderson & Maureen Thompson.

ERIC SCOTT (1904-1960)
---------------------------------------------------
I will be mounting a small exhibition of paintings and drawings by my father to mark the centenary of his birth. The show will be at Samphire Cottage (off the track to the Sluice Bridge) from 1st - 4th July, from 2 - 6 pm. Nothing will be for sale - except, possibly, for a few cards - and free refreshments will be provided for anyone who would care to call in. It was in this house that the bulk of my father's surviving work was produced in the 1950s, nearly all his earlier work having been destroyed in an air raid.
Richard Scott.

ONE-OFF ADVERTISEMENTS ARE £10.00 PER ISSUE - IF WE HAVE ROOM!
