THE REVD GRAHAM OWEN

The Reverend Graham Owen will be licensed to St Michael's Church in Framlingham on Tuesday July 27th at 19.30 and will be conducting his farewell service on July 11th at 11.00 at St Peter and St Paul Wangford.

WI - THE MENINGITIS TRUST

On July 14th we look forward to an interesting talk about The Meningitis Trust given by Mrs Debbie Ball.
On a lovely June summer afternoon our Group met in Heather Hyne's garden for a chat, a quiz and the usual delicious WI tea; sandwiches, cakes and, of course, strawberries and cream.
We were pleased to welcome some past presidents and members. The only deviation from the programme was your press secretary gracefully falling backwards off her unstable garden chair!

FETE PLANS WELL UNDERWAY

All the stalls, games etc. are now allocated for the Village Fete this year, which is to be held on Saturday 28 August. The tables, Greens and Marquee are booked and Esther Freud has agreed to open the Fete for us following the success of her Walberswick based book The Sea House.
If anyone would like to go on the list of people willing to help those organising the stalls etc. please contact either Denise or Christine. Denise still needs face painters!
Although I am hoping to do the face painting for most of the afternoon I will have other responsibilities and will need a good team backing me up. Please contact me as soon as possible (teenagers very welcome!!).
Please contact stallholders direct if you have things to
offer.
There will be a Dog Show and an Art Competition based on the Rainbow Theme - more details to follow on these.
Hope everyone is looking forward to the Fete again this year!!

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK

The house-to-house collection during Christian Aid week raised £622.65. Some of this was 'gift aided' so the reclaimed tax will be added to this magnificent sum. Many thanks to all who helped with this effort in any way, and to everyone who gave generously so that others may have life before death.

LETTER FROM THE OLM

Many of you will have heard by now that the team vicar who has responsibility for Walberswick, Graham Owen, is to leave us later this month to take up a post as priest in charge of the parishes of Framlingham and Saxtead. His last service here in Walberswick will be the 9.30 a.m. Family Eucharist on 11th July. Later that same day the team farewell service will take place, at 11.00 a.m. at St Peter & St Paul Church, Wangford. Graham's licensing to his new post, by the Bishop of Dunwich, will take place at 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday 27th July at St Michael's Church Framlingham. Although Graham will be replaced in the team in due course, I shall probably be given more responsibility for our community here in Walberswick.
You will read elsewhere in this edition of the forthcoming events taking place during the month to raise awareness, as well as funds, for the proposed toilet in the fabric of St Andrew's. If you have not already seen the plans and information concerning this project please pop into the church and look at the display board.
Our July Luncheon Club will take place on Friday 9th July, in the Village Hall, at 12.30 p.m. If you have not joined us previously, come along and enjoy a tasty meal in friendly company. Each month somebody new (to the Luncheon Club) joins us and finds out what they have been missing.
Yours in Christ's name,

Brian Fisher
