M.N.D. Garden Party

The sun did not shine this year, but the rain stayed away for my garden party in aid of Motor neurone Disease Research.
Over two hundred people came to enjoy the tea and scones, and spend their money on the stalls and raffles. The record sum of £1821.04 was raised. Very many thanks to all those who ran the stalls, provided the goods and scones, made donations, helped before and on the day, and generally made it a happy occasion.

WI
IS ON HOLIDAY IN AUGUST

On the 14th  of July  we had an excellent, if scary, talk about Meningitis and the Trust now set up. They hope to have a vaccine available for all the different meningococcus groups.  Meanwhile, it is absolutely essential to contact your doctor immediately if someone you know is ill and you suspect meningitis/ meningococcal septicaemia.
If you would like to know more they can be found on:

Southwold Choral Society

Southwold Choral Society recommences on 14th September.  Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7.30 p.m. until 9.00 p.m. in the Orchestral Room at St. Felix School.  This year's main work will be Mendelssohn's 'Elijah', a much loved and challenging tour de force of the Romantic choral repertoire.
The Society is always keen to welcome new members.  We are a friendly group and whilst we enjoy hard and demanding work, the atmosphere is relaxed and good-humoured.
If you are interested in joining us this season as we do battle with the priests of Baal, we would love to hear from you.  Experienced choral singers and sight-readers are always particularly welcome.

Walberswick Loo Recital
(In aid of the new loo in the church)

There will be an 'Entertainment' evening on Saturday, 4th of September in the Village Hall at 7.30 p.m. entitled:

'Words and Music with Love'

It will be a superb entertainment for a summer's evening, with romantic readings of prose and poetry coupled with lovely songs. The music is being provided by the distinguished soprano, Yvonne Robert, while the reader is the well-known actor, Graham Roberts, (better known as George Barford in the Archers).
After the performance, enjoy a glass or three of wine, with canapés and have a chat with the artists. Yvonne will be delighted to sign copies of her new CD!
A private sponsor has agreed to pay all the costs, so all the proceeds will be 'flushed' into the 'Loo Fund'. During August, tickets will be available from the 'Tuck Shop'.
