LETTER FROM THE OLM

An American named Maxwell Anderson wrote a song in 1938 with these words:
'But it's a long, long while from May to December;
And the days grow short when you reach September.'
All I can say is that reaching September again, a year on from last September let alone last May, does not seem a long, long while when you write a monthly column like this one! It gets to the stage when you sit at the computer keyboard and think, 'what on earth shall I write about this time'!
I realise that I made a mistake in last month's letter. The annual Blessing of the Animals Service will be taking place at Holy Trinity Church, Blythburgh on 29th August and NOT on 29th September - hopefully, you will receive this newsletter in time to be alerted to that error. The Revd Simon Ward will be leading that service.
We have received a good number of applications from serving priests to fill the vacancy left by Graham Owen's departure for Framlingham; we pray that the person of God's choice will be appointed at the interviews which take place on 21st September.
The Walberswick Luncheon Club will take place on the third Friday this month i.e. 17th September. As usual everyone is welcome, for the princely sum of £5.
Just to alert you that our Harvest Festival services will take place on Sunday 10th October, with the annual Harvest Supper taking place on Friday, 8th October.

Yours in Christ's name,
Brian Fisher
