Meditations From St. Andrew's Church,
Walberswick

St Andrew's is producing a booklet, with the above title, which will contain devotional passages, poems, prayers and scriptures of significance to the contributors, who will be credited.
If anybody has been moved, or helped, by any spiritual writings we would be very happy to receive your contributions (which may be more than one item), whether or not you attend services at St Andrew's. If you wish to include any brief explanation or personal context, this could also appear in the booklet.
Please submit your contributions, by the
8th of November, either to, 2 Millstones, Millfield Road, or care of the Vestry.
Although the booklet is being produced to raise funds for the church (initially for the W.C. Fund), we hope it may prove to be worthwhile in its own right and also over the longer term.

LETTER FROM THE OLM

I would like to take the opportunity this month to say thank you to some people on behalf of St Andrew's Church. Firstly, to Julie Winyard for all the hard work that she put in to planning and running the children's holiday club in August. I understand that it was well attended.
Secondly, a big thank you to Denise and Christine for planning and organizing this year's 'Rainbow' Village Fete. I think that everyone agreed that it was a very happy and successful occasion. I was well aware as to how much work they put into it; it is certainly not something that just runs by itself!
The Village Fete is an event that raises much-needed funds for our village church and our village hall. As far as the church is concerned, some people may wonder what happens to the money raised in this way. A proportion of all monies given to our church go towards our diocesan quota, which in turn, enables clergy stipends and pensions to be paid. The diocese also provides our church with legal and general advice, as well as education and training for clergy and laity. After paying our quota, we then have the not inconsiderable responsibility of maintaining the general fabric of the church and churchyard. So, we are indeed grateful for the assistance provided by the Village Fete.
Because we are having our Harvest Supper on 8th October, there will not be a Luncheon club this month.

Yours in Christ's service,

Brian Fisher

CHURCH MATTERS

HARVEST FESTIVAL

This year the Harvest Festival will be celebrated on Sunday 10th October. Donations of fruit, vegetables and tinned goods will be gratefully received at the Church on Saturday morning 9th October and anyone who would like to help with the decoration will be most welcome on the Saturday morning. All the produce will be distributed round the village later. As I shall be away, Elizabeth Leighton is kindly organising the decoration of the Church.
