Local Gentleman Wins Golf Tournament!

It may have taken nine years, however, on a cold, wet and windy late September day at Southwold Golf Club, we at last had a local person as the winner of the
Walberswick Open Golf Tournament.
My thanks to all competitors for attending and putting up a very good show in 'not very nice conditions'.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION AGM
THE FUTURE OF THE BRANCH

At the Committee meeting on the 5th October, concern was raised about the ability of the Branch to function beyond the 2005 November AGM, unless volunteers come forward to replace those retiring from the Committee. (Incidentally, Members, including Committee Members do not have to have had any past connection with the Armed Forces.)
The Branch has been a Village institution in its own right since 1946 and its future depends on all of us who live in Walberswick. The problem has to be addressed and will be discussed at the AGM, on Monday 22nd November in the Village Hall starting at 7.30 p.m., followed by the usual Buffet Supper.
If you think that you can help, or have any suggestions, please 'phone me, or come to the AGM which is open to all, not only members of the Branch.

5TH NOVEMBER , Bonfire Night

This yearly event gives the village the opportunity to get rid of garden and other burnable rubbish. Fireworks, insurance etc. are bought with money collected on the night. If you dump rubbish on the fire please contribute towards these expenses by placing a donation in the tin at the Tuck Shop.

The Children's Society

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to The Children's Society by subscribing to a collection box. We have raised over £400 this year, just by many people putting loose change in their boxes.
If any one (especially families with children) would be prepared to have a box please 'phone me.

Village Hall Ceilidh

The evening was great fun with over £950 being raised towards the equal access ramp to be built outside the hall front door.
Our grateful thanks to all who supported us and particularly to those friends and partners who helped before, during and afterwards. We couldn't have done it without you. We would also like to thank all the hall user groups who donated such wonderful raffle prizes. The full accounts are available for viewing in the village hall.
