WI - HOLYROOD HOUSE

For the meeting on 9th March we shall be particularly delighted to welcome Joan Avis's daughter The Reverend Elizabeth Baxter.
She and her husband live and work in Holyrood House a 'short stay' home for men or women of any religious persuasion seeking some respite in their lives. Holyrood, a charitable institution, is a lovely house and garden near Thirsk in North Yorkshire. As usual visitors will be very welcome.
Mrs Rita Dedman, our February speaker, was quite charming, and flattering as she assessed our perfect bone structure, beautiful hair and lovely skin! She spoke with great enthusiasm on aromatherapy.
It was indeed a happy afternoon and we all felt rejuvenated.

Flower Festival! Calling All Flower Arrangers!

St. Andrew's Church will be holding a Flower Festival this year on the 9th and 10th of July and the money raised will go to the 'Loo' Fund.
We have already held an enthusiastic first meeting, to start the ball rolling, and now we are looking for flower arrangers to come forward to put our ideas into practice. A definite decision on a theme has not yet been made, however, we do have several ideas and money will be available towards the cost of flowers.
Is this something in which
you would like to take part? If you would, please let me know by the 1st of April so that a meeting of all flower arrangers can be organised: probably sometime at the beginning of May.
Don't worry if arranging flowers is not your forte - we will also need lots of people to act as stewards, serve refreshments etc.
Please watch the Village News for further details.

Traffic Calming Measures - A meeting took place between representatives from the Parish Council, Visitor Management Group, Police and Suffolk Coastal. Mr. Adrian Carden (SCC) considered the most effective traffic calming solution would be to place wicket gates on the verges at the entrance to the village, with the Walberswick sign mounted on top. This barrier, along with lateral lines and a buff road strip, should inform drivers that they were entering the village. He considered it was necessary to erect pedestrian signs at the Adams' Lane junction and he also stated that a new mobile flashing sign was being considered for future use. Mr Carden would be reporting back to the Council in the near future for further discussions.
After approval at the next Council meeting (7th March), a full report on the Traffic Calming Meeting and other items will be found in the February minutes, posted on the Parish Council notice board outside the Village Hall and in the church porch.

ONE-OFF ADVERTISEMENTS ARE £10.00 PER ISSUE - IF WE HAVE ROOM!
