On A Light-Hearted Note
These come to us from across the "Pond", via Zimbabwe, and are taken from actual American church bulletins; or were announced in church services: (There's cosmopolitan…)
"Bertha Belch, a missionary from Africa, will be speaking tonight at Calvary Methodist Church. "Come, hear Bertha Belch all the way from Africa!"
"The Fasting And Prayer Conference includes meals."
"The sermon this morning: 'Jesus Walks on the Water.' "The sermon tonight: 'Searching for Jesus.'"
"Ladies, don't forget the rummage sale. It's a chance to get rid of those husbands." By Courtesy of E. Rooke

LETTER FROM THE OLM
March will be an exciting month for the Sole Bay Team. As we look forward to Easter we are also anticipating the licensing of the Revds David & Julie Eaton at St. Peter & St. Paul, Wangford, on Saturday 12th March at 6.00 p.m. The Bishop of St. Edmundsbury & Ipswich will preside at the licensing service. I gave details in last month's letter about the first three Lent lectures based on the articles of the Christian creed; here are the details of the three that will take place this month at the United Reform Church in Southwold, commencing at 6.00 p.m: 6th March…' I believe in the Holy Catholic Church, the Communion of Saints' - The Rt. Revd. Pete Broadbent, Bishop of Willesden. 13th March…'I believe in the Forgiveness of Sins' - The Rt. Revd. Gavin Reid, former Bishop of Maidstone. 20th March…'I believe in the Resurrection of the Body & the Life Everlasting' - Prof, Hugh Williamson, Regius Professor of Hebrew at Oxford University. At 7.30 p.m. on Thursday, 17th March, the excellent Riding Lights Theatre Company will be performing 'Calvary' at Holy Trinity Church, Blythburgh. Everyone is welcome to see this dramatic rendering of the Calvary event. All these events lead us into our Easter services, yet another time for rejoicing as we celebrate and remember the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please come and join us at either of our services on that very special day in the Church's year. A happy Easter to you all,
Brian Fisher
