WI - Pastime Dolls

On 13th July, Mrs Connie Williams will come to our meeting to tell us about Pastime Dolls. Visitors are welcome.
Thirteen of our members enjoyed a beautifully sunny afternoon for their visit to see the gardens at Parham Hall and were privileged to have the owners take them around. They seemed as pleased as the members were with all their hard work on their re-designed grounds and they also produced a lovely homemade tea.
Celia McCarthy was our representative, along with 5000 other WI members, at the Albert Hall on 8th June and heard most interesting talks from Jane Fonda (the 1960s sex kitten), Helena Kennedy QC and Bill Bryson. She has promised a full report for next month's magazine.

LETTER FROM THE OLM

So far it has not seemed much like summer but perhaps the best is yet to come? You will read elsewhere that St Andrew's will be doing its best to brighten up our lives by holding a Flower Festival on the 9th & 10th July. If you do not usually darken the doors of our village church, please come and give us a look that weekend - you might even be tempted to join us for a service! Our service on the Sunday morning will be the monthly Family Service at which Sea Sunday will be the theme.
One aim of the Flower Festival is to raise further funds for the Church Loo, as is a concert on Wednesday 20th July at 8 p.m., when we shall welcome back that excellent female singing group, The Decibelles. Anyone who heard them sing last year will need no encouragement to come and hear them again.
Our Luncheon club this month will be on Friday 8th July, in the Village Hall at 12.30 p.m.; everyone is welcome.
On Saturday 23rd July we will be celebrating our first wedding service of the year, when Nicholas Cowley and Sara Ormerod are to be married. Let us pray for and remember them in all the preparations for their special day.
If you, or you know of someone, who would appreciate a pastoral visit please feel free to contact me to arrange one.
Yours in Christ's service,
Brian Fisher
