July Parish Council Report

Planning Applications:
Opposed: (1) Demolition of existing single dwelling and replacement with two new semi-detached houses at 'The Studio', Stocks Lane, on the grounds that the plot was the smallest in the vicinity and two such dwellings would result in over-massing and be out of character in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. (2) Replacement of the existing timber windows and doors at 'Martins', The Street, with UPVC, as the dwelling was in the Conservation Area of the village.
The Parish Councillors were extremely upset to learn that the appeal lodged by the owners of 'Rose End Cottage', had been allowed. Councillor Hunt, who spoke at the appeal, stated that he felt the decision had gone the appellant's way once the Inspector had visited the site, which had been allowed to get into a state of disrepair over the last two years. Councillors were upset at the loss of the shop and the fact that the unique character of this part of the village would be lost forever.
The accounts for the year ending 31st March 2005 were approved by the Council and would be sent to Lubbock Fine to be audited. Mr Tony Kohn had already carried out an internal audit of the accounts.
Councillor K Webb was re-elected as Nominative Trustee for the Common Lands Trust and would serve for a further four years.

Suffolk Historic Churches Trust (SHCT)

The Sponsored Cycle Ride draws ever nearer - Saturday, 10th September - and I now have all the relevant literature. So, collect yours now! There are people 'out there' with a burning desire to sponsor you! Let's make it another wonderful Walberswick endeavour.
Each generation has a responsibility to maintain our wonderful old church buildings. All the money raised is divided equally between the SHCT and the church of your choice.
Walk or cycle, it's good exercise, for a good cause and what's more, good fun!
