Village Fête 2005

The Village Hall Committee would like to thank Jacqui Morecombe and her team of Kate Felton and Jodie Ellis for their brilliant work in organising this year's Fête. It was a great success with £4608 raised. We had perfect weather - nice enough to bring visitors into the village, but not so sunny that they disappeared onto the beach!
Everybody seemed to be having a good time - a great tribute to the organisers and all the wonderful people who manned the stalls, made teas et cetera. It's a huge effort for so many people; however, it is one of the highlights of the Walberswick year.

Thank you.
Mark Aldridge, Village Hall Committee Chairman

The Walberswick Scroll

There will be a showing of the Walberswick Scroll (painted mostly in the summer of 1931 by John Doman Turner) in the village hall on Saturday 15th October from 10 a.m.--12.30 p.m. The Scroll will be run back and forth several times during this time, so all who turn up should have a good chance to view it. Do please avoid leaving arrival until the last minute, as we have to vacate the hall promptly. Pat Wythe has kindly agreed to be present with a collection of archive photographs of local interest. On a previous occasion this feature proved to be a very interesting sideshow for those awaiting a space at the Scroll. Additionally, it will be possible to purchase copies of the Scroll video at an attractive price - see attached sheet.

Amazing Story Of The Rev. J Higham

At our meeting on the 12th October, Mr Pip Wright will be telling us 'The Amazing story of the Rev. J Higham'. This will be a real surprise to the members as nobody was able to give me any information whatsoever on Pip Wright or the clergyman.
At our last meeting we found Barbara Shaw's story of her early life very entertaining; she was so amusing with her tales as the supernumerary on board the ships, (she was allowed to join her husband once they were married) and discovered her role was entitled 'supernumerary' which, she explained, was mostly playing cards with the off duty seamen.
