Lessons And Carols By Candlelight

This is the tenth year of this service in its present form, telling the birth of Jesus in lessons and carols. For this very special celebration, our church will be splendidly lit by candlelight.
The congregation are invited to join with the choir in all the well-known carols, as well as some not so well known.
The choir will sing John Rutter's lovely carol 'Mary's Lullaby' and the popular 'Three Kings'. Be sure to come and sing with us in our beautiful candlelit church on the 18th December at 6 p.m.

LETTER FROM THE OLM

Are you looking forward to Christmas this year? Or perhaps I should ask, "Are you ready for Christmas this year?"
I'm sure that we are not ready in our house; there are always so many things to do. Perhaps Christmas is a sad time as far as you are concerned, a time when there is grieving over loved ones or close friends no longer around with whom to share Christmas. Perhaps it is not your turn to see the family this year. Do you just regard Christmas as an extended public holiday, or is it a time for you to remember the birth of God's Son, Jesus Christ?
If it is the latter then, hopefully, the services that have been arranged over the Christmas period will help you to celebrate Christ's birth at Bethlehem.
Our celebrations will begin on the Sunday evening before Christmas when we hold our 'Carols by Candlelight'
service of readings and carols. On Christmas Eve a more recent innovation, the Crib service, will take place. This will be at 4.30 p.m. and is especially aimed at young families (although you are all most welcome). For those who prefer a more traditional service for Christmas Eve there will be a Midnight Eucharist at Holy Trinity Blythburgh starting at 11.30 p.m. Then back to St Andrew's on Christmas morning for our Family Eucharist.
And, just in case you have forgotten, the Christmas Luncheon Club takes place on Friday 9th December at 12.30 p.m. at the Village Hall. Please let us know if you intend to be there.
A very happy and peaceful Christmas to you all,

Brian Fisher

We are still selling the bone-china mugs depicting
St. Andrew's church.
They make ideal presents for any occasion and especially for Christmas.
(Filled with chocolates and tied with a red bow, they look very festive!)
They can be bought from Joanne Saunders, 2 Millstones, Millfield Road or, myself, at 'Shenburgh', priced at £6 each.
