Walberswick Golf Association (WGA)
The results of the WGA match, played on the 10th June, are as follows: In 1st place was Chas Elliott, with 23 points. After a brain numbing count-back on 6 cards, (all with 22 pts!), Nick Jones came 2nd and Vic Popperwell was 3rd. It seems to show that the new handicap groupings work better, at least for now. Nearest the pin was Alan Porter. The weather was absolutely brilliant; the course was in great shape and the new clubhouse looked terrific. The WGA has now been going for a year and I believe everyone has thoroughly enjoyed themselves, so I think it would be an appropriate time to thank Dave Cotton at Halesworth Golf Club for his tremendous cooperation.

Riq's 'Wind In The Willows' (With apologies to Kenneth Graham)
'I like your clothes awfully, Riq,' sighed Ratty. 'We have been wined, dined and entertained at the finest house on the whole harbour!' cried Toad. 'Our plates were piled up with deliciously hot chilli and rice,' added Badger. 'This has been a wonderful night,' whispered Mole and, at the thought of it ending, he had to brush away a tear or two with the back of his paw. 'Thank you kindly dear Riq for all your pains and trouble,' said his friends. All the people cheered and crowded 'round Riq to congratulate him.

Norwich Bus Service
Those of us who were fortunate enough to be on the inaugural journey of the Walberswick-Norwich bus, would like to thank Jane Kirkeby for her initiative in creating this valuable village amenity and the Trustees of the Common Lands Charity for financing it. Journeys take place on the 3rd Thursday of each month, leaving the village at 9.30 a.m. Passengers are dropped at 'Bonds', and the bus leaves from there at 2 p.m. There are 16 seats (all with seat belts), the ride is comfortable and the 'Conductor', who is the person nominated by Jane to wear the rather fine conductor's cap, ensures good order. (Jill Whittenbury presented the cap for use on these journeys.) Travel is free but reservations must be made in advance from Sheila Diverall (724422) or from Jane (723079) and, at the time of reservation a booking fee will be requested ('no fee, no reservation'). The good news is that this fee is refunded on the bus. The Common Lands Charity has financed this bus for a trial period of 6 months and, so far, each journey has been full. By using the bus we will ensure that it becomes a regular, valuable and enjoyable feature of our village life. Peter Gordon-Potts, 722827
