Suffolk Historic Churches' Trust 25th Sponsored Cycle Ride 09/09/06
Have you sponsored any of our volunteer cyclists yet? If not, please be as generous as you can and make their ride really worthwhile. Denise Burchell, riding with her sister, and Brian Fisher (01502-723023) have joined Rosi Gerrell (form in the Tuck Shop), Chris and Katherine Gomm (-723294) and Julia Reisz (-723275) for the event. They will all be very grateful for your support for this worthy cause. Margot and Maurice Godbold (01502-722439)

Mozart Celebrations In Walberswick
This year we are marking the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth with a fun celebration concert in Walberswick Church on 30th September at 3 p.m. There will be something for every taste, with Denis King jazzing up some piano tunes, a piano trio, some organ music and quite a few songs from every genre. It will be great to see you there for Mozart and a glass of wine! For more information, please contact: Julie Winyard email: julieawin@btopenworld.com and mobile 0775 3980427

Letter From The OLM
My apologies first of all, for not sending a letter for last month's Village News - blame it on the stress of holidays! Congratulations to one of our Sole Bay Team Clergy, David Eaton, who has been awarded an MBE (Military Division) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List. This is in recognition of his work as a chaplain to members of the Territorial Army, especially pastoral support for those returning from service in Iraq. Congratulations, also, to our curate, Caroline Hallett, who was ordained priest on Sunday, 25th June. Penny Buncombe, Christine and I were able to join a packed congregation at our diocesan cathedral at Bury St Edmunds, for an inspiring service. We are to have a baptism service on Sunday, 3rd September, however, not at St Andrew's; it is to take place on the beach/ in the sea, starting at 11.30 a.m. Although my name did not appear in last month's list of riders of those who intend to do the annual Historic Churches' Sponsored Bicycle Ride, I am able to confirm the rumours that I will be undertaking this gruelling event. Sponsors would be welcome, if only to encourage me! The Luncheon Club will take place on Friday, 8th September at 12.30 p.m. Please feel free to join us. It has been a joy to record various items of good news this month, but even better to remind you that each Sunday the good news of Jesus Christ is preached at St Andrew's: why not come and hear the news? Yours in Christ's service
Brian Fisher
